Air Source Heat Pumps in West Yorkshire

Heat pump enquiries across West Yorkshire have grown sharply, driven by the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant and by growing evidence that heat pumps work well in older northern housing when they are designed properly. That design point is the whole job. A heat pump sized from a postcode estimate will disappoint in a stone terrace; one sized from a room-by-room heat loss calculation will heat the same house comfortably through a Pennine winter.

The county gives us a wide spread of property types. Well-insulated newer homes around Wakefield and the Leeds commuter belt often run on their existing radiators with little more than a few upgrades. Solid stone properties through Halifax, Huddersfield, and Keighley usually need a more careful approach — larger emitters in the coldest rooms so the system can run at lower, more efficient flow temperatures, and sometimes fabric improvements first.
